Arcadis invests in Nomic after its engineers tried it and liked it

Arcadis noted that engineering firms sit on decades of institutional knowledge in the form of designs, specifications and project data, but much of it is locked away in disconnected systems, making it hard to find and use when it’s needed.

The Nomic partnership will unlock that knowledge by embedding AI and digital capabilities into project delivery, Arcadis said.

Its agents will be integrated with tools Arcadis already uses, including Autodesk Forma and Bentley ProjectWise. Arcadis believes it will boost accuracy, speed and delivery certainty for clients while creating more scalable and repeatable ways of working.

Nomic’s agents will help teams review drawings against standards, check code compliance, review first-pass submittals, conduct RFI research and coordinate information management.

They will also analyse project information including building codes, design specifications and technical documentation more quickly and consistently. Arcadis said this would mean faster decisions, improved efficiency and better outcomes for clients.

In one example during the trial, agents were able to do what would have been several days of manual document cataloguing in just hours. Engineers also used the platform to strengthen technical bids, contributing to new work won.

The platform helped engineers identify risks and misalignments earlier, analyse technical documentation more efficiently and accelerate tasks such as cost prediction for industrial manufacturing clients.

“Our investment in Nomic is a targeted step in bringing those capabilities into the heart of Arcadis’ delivery model, helping our people work faster and more effectively while improving outcomes for clients.”
