Video: Canary Wharf Group’s journey from gut feeling to objective data with OpenSpace
“The biggest shift is is going from gut feeling to objective data,” says Roman Baran, senior manager – digital construction at Canary Wharf Group, in a video case study about his team’s use of OpenSpace.
Canary Wharf has been using OpenSpace technology to monitor progress on the Wood Wharf project, now in its final stages. The project is one of Europe’s largest urban regeneration projects, comprising nearly 4,000 residential units across 15 towers, plus hotels and commercial and retail units.
Since it first tested OpenSpace eight years ago, Canary Wharf has captured six million site photos.
“We capture the site, and OpenSpace Track analyses the data and turns it into real progress intelligence. That combination is what’s delivering gamechanging value for us,” Baran tells OpenSpace director of sales Will Synnott. “We are tracking up to 200 components per building, from first fix to the final finish and facade. So instead of relying on manual updates, we’re seeing the actual status of every unit updated after a weekly scan. For me, the biggest shift is going from gut feeling to objective data.”
