Hand-drawn sketch to masterplan in a week with AI from Tim Fu
AI-in-architecture evangelist Tim Fu has published a video showcasing his practice’s latest development in AI: a workflow that converts a hand-drawn sketch into a 3D masterplan.

In a brief announcement last week, Studio Tim Fu stated: “We crafted an AI design workflow that readily converts human hand-sketching directly to masterplan design and aerial. There's no 3D models involved. Entire pre-concept package is produced by our architects and urban designers within a week. Future is AI.”
Earlier this year, Fu made waves by unveiling the masterplan for a high-end luxury residential scheme driven by AI. The Lake Bled Estate in Slovenia comprises six contemporary villas and the restoration of the historic Vila Epos on a 22,000 sq m site on the shore of Lake Bled in the Julian Alps.
In an interview with Forbes announcing that development, Fu explained that the site is surrounded by listed buildings and is governed by strict building codes. “We see this as the perfect chance to show what AI can truly achieve. Our aim is to prove that, when used thoughtfully, AI can create designs that are both respectful of their surroundings and entirely practical to build,” he said.
AI was used in the design optimisation (including interpreting and reimagining traditional Slovenian architectural motifs into a modern context), heritage preservation and environmental integration.
Fu set up his own practice, Studio Tim Fu in London in 2023, after leaving Zaha Hadid Architects.
