Digital Construction Power Players: the people’s vote part one
Two months ago, we launched the DC+ Digital Construction Power Players, an informal ranking of the 20 people and organisations who have the most influence and exert the most control over the digital construction sector. We invited readers to send in their nominations. Here are some of the best nominations we received.
George Floros, head of digital construction nuclear & power EMEA, AtkinsRéalis

George Floros began his career driving digital innovation in the infrastructure sector, where he led the development of transformative solutions that enhanced project delivery and operational efficiency. His work in this space laid the groundwork for his current focus on the nuclear and energy sectors, where he is now applying those hard-earned lessons to accelerate digital transformation in some of the most complex and safety-critical environments.
One of Floros’s most significant contributions is the development of GeoBIM, a pioneering framework that seamlessly integrates information management, BIM and geospatial technologies. This innovation has led to practical digital construction solutions that are accelerating transformation across the sector. George has actively shared this work with the wider industry through contributions to openBIM and openGIS standards, as well as through academic publications that promote knowledge exchange and best practices between academia and the industry.
He has also played a pivotal role in redefining the geospatial pathway for the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors.
Currently one of the youngest directors at AtkinsRéalis, Floros is spearheading the development and implementation of digital construction strategies across the organisation and UK government bodies. His leadership continues to shape the future of digital delivery, making him a standout figure in the evolving landscape of construction and engineering.
Nominated by Dr Anita Soni, head of digital construction at AtkinsRéalis.
Elaine Lewis, global director business development, Bentley Systems

Elaine Lewis is more widely known for CADventrue, a business set up more than 35 years ago with a view to help architects and engineers get the best from technology. From Foster+Partners being their first client, their world has expanded globally and so has the baseline in supporting organisations in their digital transformation journeys.
Bentley Systems acquired CADventure last year.
Lewis is involved in Women in BIM, acting as a mentor, and is a non-executive director of nima.
Nominated by James Daniel, head of digital engineering at HS2 Ltd.
Fiona Moore, director, Cirrus Consultant Services

Fiona Moore is an architectural technologist by background, with a strong track record of providing information management consultancy. She oversaw the technical delivery of the Government & Industry Interoperability Group (now simply known as GIIG).
She has been a key player in the BIM and digital world since the beginning. She has been and continues to be an influential member of the community, whether it’s supporting initiatives such as the BIM Task Group, Digital Built Britain and nima [where she's recently been promoted to deputy chair]: lift the lid and you’ll find her.
If you're lucky enough to have her working with you or supporting one of your projects, you know you’re in safe hands.
Nominated by James Daniel, head of digital engineering at HS2 Ltd.
Clare Taylor, head of digital delivery, MWH Treatment

Clare Taylor has been involved in the water industry for more than 10 years and in that time, she has shaped and moulded a sector of the utility industry to really drive the use and implementation of digital tools and processes.
As well as her role at MWH Treatment, she has been involved in BIM4Water for over six years, chairing the network for half of that tenure.
Between 2025 and 2030, water companies in England and Wales are set to spend a whopping £104bn – more than double what they spent in the last five-year asset management period. BIM4Water's role in sharing and promoting best practice will be key in ensuring the sector meets the targets set by Ofwat.
Nominated by James Daniel, head of digital engineering at HS2 Ltd.
Alison Watson MBE, founder and CEO, Class Of Your Own

We received two nominations for Alison Watson MBE. Elaine Lewis wrote of Watson: "She is a phenomenal powerhouse of energy in inspiring the next generation through her Design, Engineer and Construct qualification and has transformed the lives of many young people to embrace and train for a career in the digital built environment.
"In addition to her MBE, Alison was awarded Inspiring Women in STEM and Construction in March of this year at the House of Lords. She is also the current President of Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors."
James Daniel at HS2 added: "Her work speaks for itself with regard to bringing the AEC educational opportunity and access to young people around the world. My first experience of Class Of Your Own was at a BIM Show Live event in London 10 years ago when a stage full of you students stunned the room with the art of the possible with AEC tools and educational nurture and support. I have been a supporter ever since.
"Alison now proudly holds the position of CICES president with an unsurprising theme: 'Make Space for Education.' She is the key to our future digital construction power players."
Who's your nominee?
We'll publish part two of the people's vote next week. You still have time to nominate someone. Simply email the editor with your nomination: we’ll need their name, job title, who they work for and a couple of sentences justifying their position as a Power Player.
